This week is homecoming at Pflugerville.  The Panthers will take on the San Antonio Reagan Rattlers.  Pflugerville got a big win last week in its home opener against the Austin Maroons to snap a two game losing streak stretching back to the playoff loss to Lufkin last season.

The Panthers were led by all-everything player Caleb Horton who lined up under center, as a running back and a wideout to rack up 175 yards of offense and two touchdowns.  Zach Milner was 6 of 10 on passing for 132 yards and Jonathan Wallace had 100 yards.

The Panthers and Bulldogs were tied at 7 at the end of the First Quarter, Friday night, but that was as close as it got.  Bowie scored 21 in the Second and 14 more in the Third before the Panthers got on the board again to make the final score, 42-14.

Jonathan Wallace opened the Panther scoring with a 4 yard touchdown run that tied the game at 7-7.  Zach Milner closed it out with a 26 yard pass to Caleb Horton.  Chris Gutierrez added both extra points.

Milner was 5 of 12 for 72 yards and a touchdown.  Wallace led all Panther rushers with 81 yards and a touchdown.  Daymond Johnson had 52 on just 4 carries.  Denarius Knight and Clarence Guidry both rushed for 28; while Caleb Horton rushed 4 times for 37 yards.  Horton also caught 4 passes for 64 yards and the touchdown.

Pflugerville will look to bounce as they return for the Home Opener against the Austin Maroons.  Austin fell to Westwood, 42-13 in their season opener.  Pflugerville won last season at House Park, 34-14.

Pflugerville continues in the playoffs this week in the Area round against the Lufkin Panthers.  Lufkin won last week against the defending champion from 2011, Spring Dekaney.  The same team Pflugerville fell to last season at Waller ISD Stadium.

Lufkin enters the contest with an 8-3 record and were Tri-Champions in District 14 along with The Woodlands and A&M Consolidated.  Pflugerville finished in third place in District 16 and defeated #8 Lake Travis in the bidistrict round.

The Panthers have only one previous game against Lufkin, also playing in the 5A Area playoffs in 2004.  Pflugerville led the game 17-13 through the end of the Thid Quarter but were outscored 20-0 in the final period as Lufkin advanced 33-17.

The Game will be played at Bryan ISD’s Merrill Green Stadium at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 24.

30 straight playoff wins ran into a brick wall tonight as Pflugerville stunned Lake Travis 23-20. It came down to the last play but it wasn’t meant to be as a Hail Marry pass went unanswered.

Pflugerville started strong and held on for a tight win over the Stony Point Tigers and clinched a spot in the 5A Division II Playoffs in two weeks.  The Panthers will take on the First place team from District 15, which will more than likely be Lake Travis.  Date and Location are TBD at this point.

Clarence Guidry and Adrian Dilworth led the way early with touchdown runs to put Pflugerville up 14-0.  The Tigers cut the lead to 14-7 at the half.  The Panther D turned the Tigers away and forced the field goal attempt im the third quarter to narrow the lead to 14-10.

Blain Kruemcke found Noah Menke for an 18 yard touchdown in the fourth and Dilworth rumbled in from 2 yards to seemingly put the game out of reach.  But the Tigers would not go away easily.  They ran for a touchdown and then recovered an onside kick and scored again to cut the deficit to 28-23.  Pflugerville finally sealed the deal on a 4th and short play action pass to a wide open Noah Menke in the endzone from 34 yards out.

Pflugerville improves to 7-2 on the year, 4-1 in District play.  Stony Point fell to 3-6, 1-4.  The Panthers will take on Westwood next week on Senior Night.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm at Kuempel Stadium.
