Pflugerville will return home this week for the Final game in the regular season at Kuempel Stadium.  The Connally game, originally scheduled for Nov 7th at home has been moved to Nov 8th at RRISD Stadium at 1pm.  The Panthers got a big win last week against the Austin Maroons, 33-16.  The victory kept the Panthers undefeated in District play, improving to 4-0.  Jeremy Burleson provided the game breaker with a 64 yard punt return, while the offense rolled up over 300 yards on the ground.

Akins began the season on a strong note with a 27-13 victory over Crockett, but it's been down hill since then.  They've lost six straight games, all by large margins.  Connally beat them 45-7 two weeks ago and they were shut out 56-0 by Bowie last week.

The Panthers were 12-4 overall and 4-3 in 14-5A play last season and made their second appearance in the State Championship game.  They will look to improve upon their best season since 1970.

Akins finished 1-9 last year, their lone win over the now defunct Johnston Rams.  The Eagles have lost 29 consecutive district games, dating back to 2004.

PFLUGERVILLE-AKINS SERIES

Pflugerville and Akins have never met.  The Panthers and Eagles will play again next season to conclude the 2008-2009 Realignment cycle.

HOME SWEET HOME

The Panthers are undefeated at home this year and look to complete their first perfect slate at home since the 2002 squad went 6-0.  In 2007, the Panthers went 3-1, losing only their last game to Round Rock.  Pflugerville is 66-46-2 at home since 1986

OCTOBER A WINNER

Pflugerville went 3-1 last season in October.  The Panthers have gone 16-6 in the month of October over the last five seasons and 3-0 this year.

NEW DISTRICT AWAITS PANTHERS

Pflugerville joins District 25-5A for the 2008-09 & 2009-10 school years.  They leave their Williamson County rivals for contests against Austin ISD schools: Austin, Akins, Anderson, Bowie; Bastrop; Westlake and crosstown rival Connally.  The Panthers will compete against theses schools in Athletics as well as Academic and Fine Arts contests

OFAFOR NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-TEXAS

Senior DT Alex Okafor was named to the First Team All-Texas Super team in Dave Campbell's Texas Football.  The University of Texas commit is expected to help anchor a strong defensive line that include Junior Tyrus Thompson.  Thompson was honored among the Top Junior Defensive linemen.

PVILLEPANTHERS.COM

PvillePanthers.com is an unofficial fan site covering Pflugerville High School football.  Open since 2003, it provides updates several times a week during the football season providing game stories, statistical information, Stadium directions and more.  It also includes an extensive historical sections with complete results from 1950 to the present.

NEXT WEEK

Pflugerville will go back on the road for a Halloween eve showdown with the Bowie Bulldogs.  This game should be for the District 25-5A Championship.  Bowie and Westlake are currently tied for Second place with the Panthers in the lead.  But, a win by the Bulldogs could force a three way tie for the title going into the final week of the Regular Season.  A victory by the Panthers would all but assure them of their first District title since 2003.  PHS finished in 4th place last season in 14-5A before marching to the State Finals.

Please note that this game will be on Thursday, October 30th at Burger Stadium.
